We learnt from chiphell forum that about a week ago, manufacturers gradually got RV770 samples, but majority of them couldn’t run at all. Now RV770XT’s core speed is set at nearly 800MHz, with GDDR5 memory. Unfortunately, the yield of GDDR5 video memory is too low to provide enough ammunition for ATI.
Now mass production of RV770 XT is delayed to June, we can see RV770XT on shelf in July. It’s said that ATI originally intention to do a lot of RV770XT graphics cards for the announcement , now cause the lack of GDDR5, the number has been curtailed to very small amount.
As for the RV770pro, cause the lack of the chip, we can’t see too much of them on market in June. We can see AMD and ATI’s intention for getting RV770 announcement in front of GT200 release.
As for the R700, we all know it is double RV770XT + GDDR5. It’s said that now ATI can’t control the power consumption very well, but the performance may be unexpected.
