We learned that the core speed of RV770 Pro now can be reached 990MHz, using the ATI RV770 reference single slot cooler with 100% fan speed. We estimated the core speed of retail version won't be set at 990MHz; it may be at 860-910MHz. We hoped the core speed of RV770 will break 1GHz obstacle with air-cooling oc.

1.Tom- My HD 4870 with a fan hack to 77% will do the maximum ATI control center OC of 790mhz with ease, and about 45 degrees under full load. But it sounds like a hair dryer!! I think it has a lot of head room if i hacked the fan speed to 100%. But it would sound like a garden leaf blower!
