Looking at Nvidia graphics chip issues, AMD said with 100% confidence that there were no such problems with its graphics chips.

AMD announced 790GX chipset and ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card in Taiwan at 8/14. Zigang Zhou, the company's Director of Greater China graphics  sales network division told us:”ATI introduced PowerPlay technology five years ago,  this power-saving technology based on usage patterns can dynamically adjust the required electricity in Laptops with ATI Radeon graphics chips, so ATI will not be the same as NVIDIAI which has over-heat problem in mobile graphics chips.

The word from AMD's leader referred to the over-heat problems in mobile graphics chips provided by Nvidia. According to the reports, Nvidia's G84 and G86 graphics chips’ packaging materials have problems, when the graphics processor core’s temperature changes frequently, there will be multiple images, No video signals, and other phenomena. The number of affected notebook computers has increased to 1,800 million units, including the manufacturers involved in the Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, and so on.

"From the two companies’ financial statements, you can see that different points: AMD guarantees to customers there will be no over-heat problems; Nvidia is not guarantee that future products will not be affected by such a problem." Zigang Zhou emphasized to us.

In notebook graphics processor market, Intel integrated graphics chips rely on the platform edge, in the second quarter of this year, Intel occupies as much as 57 percent shares, Nvidia and AMD were 24% and 18%.

"AMD's goal is, in the next year's independent notebook grahics chip market, the share of AMD will up to 50%." said Zigang Zhou.
